Hit Up The Library

We know, we know, the library is closed. BUT there are other ways to attain books! Some libraries are doing drive-by checkouts or have free downloadable audiobooks and e-books via sites such as Hooplah or OverDrive. However you can, this week’s suggestion is to check out a book. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Checkout a book written by a Black woman.  Perhaps something by Octavia Butler, Toni Morrison, Alice Walker or Nnedi Okorafo.

  • Check out a book about structural racism in the US such as The New Jim Crow, by Michelle Alexander.

  • Check out a book by and about Asian Americans.

  • Already on top of this and have a book to spare? Many neighborhoods have Little Free Libraries – enrich your community by dropping a book in there that could help to educate a friend or neighbor. Not sure if there’s one close to you? Here’s a map!
